The Outpost is a group facility with a 28 bed capacity, situated at Mangarakau. It is a secluded eco-friendly venue in West Golden Bay, New Zealand. The original building was Mangarakau Primary School from 1948 to 1997.
Caves and limestone bluffs crown the bushclad hills, and we are nestled into the Kahurangi National Park, which simply teems with New Zealand native bird life.
This peaceful property is over looked by impressive limestone monoliths, creating a unique shelter belt from wind and EMR.
Bush tracks and miles of almost deserted beach decorate the coastal landscapes.
The shape of the landscape lends a hand to making this site a natural amphitheatre, ideal for small outdoor events. Use the Outpost as a base for educational groups, conferences, sports or hobby groups such as camera clubs, tramping groups & bird watchers.
A few minutes south is the Paturau river. At the rivers mouth is the wild West Coast at the Tasman sea.
The West coast is a hunting and fishing dream and this area is no exception. Reserve information here.
Come and experience the great outdoor adventures or simply relax the way we used to in classic kiwi style.
