We didn't know we were making memories, we just thought we were having fun!
The Outpost is a group facility with a 28 bed capacity, a secluded eco-friendly venue in Mangarakau, west of Golden Bay.
The original building was the Mangarakau Primary School (1948 to 1997).
Caves and limestone bluffs crown the bush clad hills and we are nestled into the Kahurangi National Park which simply teems with New Zealand native bird life. This peaceful property is over looked by impressive monoliths creating a unique shelter belt from wind and electromagnetic radiation.
The Outpost is positioned across the road from a native wetlands restoration park.
Bush tracks and miles of almost deserted beach decorate the coastline.
The shape of the landscape lends a hand to making this site a natural amphitheatre, ideal for small summer outdoor events & indoor parties.
Use the Outpost as a base for friend and family gatherings, educational groups, conferences, sports or hobby groups.
A few minutes south of The Outpost is the Paturau river. The river mouth is where the wild west coast meets the Tasman sea. Sea trout pepper this area in the whitebait season. The coastline is a fisherman's dream.
So whether you are escaping a political dog and pony show, pandemics, electro smog or the zombie apocalypse, The Outpost ticks all the boxes.
Come and experience the great outdoor adventures or simply relax, the way we used to, in classic kiwi style.
Catch sunbeams with bubble nets at the Outpost. Sunbeams provided, bring your own net and inner child!

Deep South Audio pumps out the beats at the Outpost on WaiTony Day.
Went for one night, stayed for three! The Outpost keeps it real, affordable, comfortable & relaxed with chilled vibes. Easy. The hosts Rows & Greg are like family. The view is dreamy. The birdsong is a lasting memory. Put your phone on flight mode, download the nature for a lasting upgrade!
